Starting engine and use of throttle gearbox

The throttle gearbox

The throttle has three positions – forward, neutral and reverse. It should never be slammed from forward to reverse and vice versa; pause briefly in neutral position in between.

To start the engine (Family Day Boats)

1. Ensure gear lever is in neutral.

2. Insert key into panel. Turn clockwise two clicks to the position labelled “Start.”

3. Release the key when the engine starts or after 5 seconds, whichever is first, and allow it to rest in the “Run” position.
